Esquire Innovations iScrub
iScrub Is a Premier Metadata Removal and Management Application If you want a “focused” document metadata management tool, then iScrub is your choice. We recommend it because it digs down into the Office document (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) where you can view it or scrub it at a granular level. iScrub does more document metadata management than any other Micro Office document metadata application on the market. For example, most people don’t know that Excel tracks the last author that that refreshes a pivot table called the “Refresh Author.” Who’s ever heard of the pivot table Refresh Author? Well its there and it’s document metadata that should be considered and managed. Another example is the Excel comment (see Figure 1). Excel’s (and Word’s) comment contain both the comment text and comment author. Most metadata tools either remove the note or leave it; iScrub can remove just the author and leave the comment (see Figure 2). We like this because its just another example of iScrub’s ability to dig deep into the document’s metadata. Figure 1

Easy to Implement in the Enterprise iScrub provides a centralized administration feature that allows firms to establish and control the metadata removal settings. iScrub uses XML technology to sync the firm’s metadata policy file (XML) with the user’s. There is no way the user can change it without it being over written with the firm’s policy. This is great, because it allows the firm to apply a firm-wide metadata policy across the board. Other Great Features Metadata Viewer - a built-in document metadata review and reporting tool Metasealant - This cool tool completely locks the document. Metasealant is a great PDF alternative. Email Integration - iScrub works with Outlook, Lotus Notes, and GroupWise. Batch Metadata Removal - iScrub includes a “SpinCycle” utility allowing the selection of multiple Microsoft Office and PDF documents or an entire directory that need to be scrubbed at once. Firms will find this useful when receiving large quantities of documents from new hires and clients.
